Alteo’s coordination team remains in close contact with the relevant authorities as well as with local NGOs and companies contributing to the fight against the MV Wakashio oil spill.
The Alteo team has been heavily involved in logistics and the sourcing of materials: 9.7 km of cloth for the production of floating barriers, 300 iron bars and 10,000 bags have been delivered onsite. 2.175 km of ‘booms’ have been created today by Anahita Mauritius Team and volunteers from the Hotels of the Eastern Coast.
Our team received several requests from schools namely Le Bocage International School, Professor Basdeo Bissoondoyal College , Sir Leckraz Teelock State Secondary School and Shrimati Indira Gandhi SSS, who are also working to create floating barriers from cane trash. As a result, 13 bales of cane trash were delivered to the aforesaid schools to help these young volunteers.
Hon.Vikram Hurdoyal, Member of Constituency No.10, Montagne Blanche and GRSE, Minister of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms, visited Anahita Mauritius today to see the work done by the volunteers. We thank you in advance for your engagement and solidarity.
